I have a lot to write about today. Omgoose I just re-read this entry and it's really VERY DAMN long, so you don't have to read it if you get bored along the way, haha.
Haiz... Didn't go to the school orientation visit today coz we had the civil defence course. But it was good anyways, haha.
Had to report to school today at 7.10, haiz, so early. Then summore have to do pledge taking at 7.15. Then we took a boring bus ride to the civil defence hq at queensway.
Yup, when we got there, it was huge huge huge! The place was sprawling all over with a giagantic parking lot for the fire engines and ambulances, and another large admin building.
When we entered the lecture room we saw three other schools already there, waiting for us, lol, to think that we were actually late! Haha. Then i saw pavithra at the front row, i beckoned to her but she didn't respond, whatever lah. Also saw the two twin jokers from yishun sec atc, haha damn funny...
We first had a video introduction in the lecture room, which, sad to say, was rather boring. I almost fell asleep, couldn't help it...
Then next up was our first practical lesson on transporting casualties to safety. We did stretchers, where rahimi was the victim and where roland was the stretcher setter. LOL he had lots of difficulty setting up the stretcher and it made me feel lucky not to be chosen, haha. Then the instuctors showed us other improvised methods of transport like the fireman's chair, quite interesting, although we didn't actually get to try it out.
After that we went to the back of the parking lot to try out the different fire extinguishers. Not bad, now I realise that there are actually three types of fire extinguishers: the water, carbon dioxide, and dry powder extinguishers. We had to put out a simple flame set up on a special piece of equipment. Ya, it was fun, I did the carbon dioxide extinguisher :P
And we had lunch. Ya I didn't think that lunch was that good... We had packet food sent in from the police academy which was veggie, fish, and some type of meatball(dunno what it is though). And the drink was red in colour so at first I thought it was rose syrup, then when I drank it, it turned out to be some other suspicious drink, lol. Thought it was plum juice. The muslims were fasting so they went up to the lecture room to talk cock with the instructors.
Then we had another practical lesson on CPR. We went into this small room with five dummies on the floor. Haha, very fake. The instructor gave a long explanation about CPR with the dummy and i was struggling to absorb the steps. It was different from life saving lessons during swimming coz there would usually be time for us to recap on the procedures whereas this was just a one-time explanation, then hands-on. Haha some of us had time to try out the CPR. Rahimi was continuously blasted at by one of the instructors because his steps were wrong, lol, I pity him. Then we joked about wasting our first kisses on the damn dummy. HAHA. Good thing I didn't have the time to try, lol.
Soon after, had a lecture on first-aid with a funny instuctor, I still remember his name was meeran, and he was very animated, haha. He made all the gory pictures on the powerpoint seem like a joke, which I think now makes me feel very sadistic :(
Haha then we had the TEST, omfgoose.
The questions were okok lah, multiple choice. And some of the answers provided were pretty brainless, LOL.
"What to do if you suspect a gas leak?"
"Strike a match to confirm."
I really wanted to laugh at that time but it was a test so I had to hold it. Haha.
And the passing mark for the test is actually 12/15, can you imagine that? Worse than fye papers!!! lol.
Then we had a surprise practical test on IPP(in-place protection). Sia lah, all of us scared of failing... We had to be able to seal up a simulator room with masking tape and trash bags to prevent the gas from coming in. Haha, because if the gas managed to enter the room, we would all fail. So the moment we got in, saffir began organising everybody on what to do, like, seal up the window gaps, cover the air-con, blahblahblah. And under the influence of aaron, jai did a very funny thing. He used masking tape to tape up the whole of the smoke detector at the ceiling of the room!!! LOL. Because at first he didn't know what it was and thought that smoke could enter from it too, so therefore he sealed it up, omgoose. If the instructor had seen it he probably would have failed us! Haha. But if you think about it the other way round, jai could possibly have saved us because if smoke came into the room, the sealed smoke detector wouldn't be able to sense it, and therefore we wouldn't fail! HAHA!!!
Then we bade goodbye to the instructors and the other schools then journeyed back. Haha, we had the chance to return back in mr lim's car, yay. But it was very sleepy though...
I actually have more to write coz there are other small details about the course, but I feel tired of typing already... xD
I seriously hope that i can get my civil defence badge and I wish that for the rest of the squad too, because I definitely don't want to come back next year if I failed, haha. I did not endure through this long and tiring course for the ENTIRE day for nothing! So I want to PASS!!!
HAHAHAHA
